In commemoration of World AIDS Day 2010, Crazy Vegas Casino are donating $20,000.00 to Nkosi's Haven, a non-profit charity organization based in South Africa, which caters to orphans of HIV/AIDS as well as their mothers. Throughout the month of November, Crazy Vegas Casino pledged 25% of all profits garnered from the playing of three of the over 500 games available on their software - Adventure Palace, Avalon and Age of Discovery - towards an AIDS-related donation. According to an official announcement released today from Crazy Vegas Casino, a total of $18,493.167 was raised, and Crazy Vegas Casino has decided to extend that amount to $20,000.00 which will be donated to the South African charity.

According to a 2006 report by UN.org, there were an estimated 11 million AIDS orphans living in Sub-Saharan Africa. Furthermore, the report indicates that 8 out of 10 children in the world whose parents have died as a result of AIDS live in Sub-Saharan Africa. According the report, over 55% of AIDS-infected people living in Sub-Saharan Africa are women. As the pandemic grows, there is a greater and greater prevalence of child-headed households in the largely poverty-stricken, third-world communities where the disease is most prevalent. According to Wikipedia, southern Africa is listed as the worst affected AIDS region in the world, with a current infection rate of 12% in South Africa alone.

According to an official statement released by casino manager Trevor Penn, "Tens of millions of children in Sub-Saharan Africa have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS. Thanks to the generous support of our players, we are able to donate $20,000.00 to Nkosi's Haven, an AIDS charity located in South Africa - one of the most AIDS-ravaged countries in the world. At Crazy Vegas Casino, we have made a long-standing history of dedication to this incredibly important cause. On this World AIDS Day, we want to remind both players and non-players alike that if we work together, there is always hope for the future".

Founded in 1999, Nkosi's Haven is a South African non-profit charity organization with properties in Johannesburg and Vereeniging, and is dedicated to providing medical care as well as a secure and supportive living environment for HIV/AIDS orphans as well as infected and destitute mothers. Nkosi's Haven projects have a total of 41 mothers and 139 children in their care, 34 of these children being HIV positive. Most of these children are infected from birth, while some children have contracted the disease as the result of sexual abuse.
