The recent success of the Asian Poker Tour which has seen multi-million dollar prize pools and a team of Asian poker players representing it probably has something to do with this recent news.

Poker Stars has announced the grand opening, on Thursday, March 19, 2009, of the new "Poker Stars Macau at the Grand Lisboa" live poker room. This will be on the second floor of the Grand Lisboa Casino, Macau. It will host 22 tables and 24/7 play.

According to World Champion and Team Poker Stars Pro Joe Hachem, "Poker Stars is committed to the development of poker across Asia, and this new room will be its heart. It has been extraordinary for me to watch the growth of poker culture in the eighteen months since the PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour first brought poker to Macau, and I'm so excited about playing in my third APPT there in August."
