Poker Stars Premieres High-stakes Big Game
April 12, 2010
Poker Stars has announced the launch of a new high-stakes cash game that is set to be filmed for television and broadcast on the Fox network in America later this summer.
Poker Stars Big Game will see the top cash game players at the Isle Of Man-licensed poker square off with a $100,000 minimum buy-in alongside one novice qualifier for each episode participating as a 'Loose Cannon'.
From now until June 15, the poker is giving players from the US and Canada the chance to participate as a 'Loose Cannon' through its Big Game Round One qualifiers. Players that win a qualifier will then move on to the Big Game Final Round qualifiers where they will be eligible to submit a casting video if they finish in the top 200.
"Poker Stars will then make its 'Loose Cannon' pick and fly him or her out to Las Vegas to play against people like Daniel Negreanu," read a statement from Poker Stars.
"Every episode you'll sit alongside the superstars of the game to play for hundreds of thousands of dollars in cold hard cash with blinds set at $200/$400.
"Winners are welcome to pack their own cash but Poker Stars will be staking the qualifiers for the Big Game. Whatever profit they make over the $100,000 buy-in, they get to keep.
"That's a pretty good deal where I come from. Oh, and if the qualifier happens to make a profit in the first season, he or she will be invited back for the next one."
